How to pump the breastmilk?

Pump in the early morning. Many moms get the most milk first thing in the morning.

Pump between breastfeeding, either 30-60 minutes after nursing or one hour before breastfeeding.

If your baby wants to breastfeed right after breast pumping, let them!

How do I know my breasts are empty when I pump?

Empty means you have taken most of the milk out of your breast. When your breasts are empty after pumping, they should feel soft, fluffy, or flat like a pancake. You shouldn't feel any lumps.

How long should I pump milk from each breast?

Ideally, you should pump for at least 15-20 minutes from each breast. In the early days, it may take 30 minutes or more and that is fine unless your breasts do not pain on touch. While pumping, the breast milk may take a few minutes to come out.

The difference between a manual and an electric breast pump:

Manual Breast Pump - Manual breast pumps work without electricity. They are manually operated and can only be used on one breast at a time. The pump is placed on the breast and the other hand is used to "pump" the lever to create suction. These pumps are generally less expensive than electric pumps, and are often very light and compact, making them a great option for those on a budget or limited space.

Electric Breast pump - Electric breast pumps express your milk quickly and require less effort to use than manual breast pumps. Unlike a manual pump, once the cup is in place on your breast, the work is automatically done for you, at a pace that you preset. This saves you from aching hands or difficult-to-maintain pumping patterns. And save more time, even when you are working you can still suck the breast milk, without embarrassment. An electric breast pump is the ideal choice for women who express regularly or exclusively as it is faster than a manual pump, allowing you to express and store more breastmilk
